In Brazil, credit cards are used for many purchases and to make cash withdrawals from ATMs and banks. Visa is the most widely accepted card, followed by MasterCard.
Be aware that all ATMs in Brazil do not accept non-Brazilian credit card, you have to look for the ATMs which have the VISA or MasterCard symbol on their front. You will find these precious machines in the main bank agencies like Banco do Brasil (Camburi beach, Reta da Penha) and HSBC (Reta da Penha). Using ATMs inside building is always safer, but be aware of those around you.
To exchange money, there are exchange agencies in Brazilian airports, including Vitoria’s, they seems to offer the better rates than Brazilian exchange agencies (you can bargain the rate). You can find exchange agencies in Vitória main shopping center. It is not possible to exchange money in the bank agencies.
